VIA Technologies Inc., a specialist in X86-compatible integrated processors, is offering a module meeting the Mini-ITX standard, which pairs the dual-core Nano X2 processor with VIA’s VX900 media system processor. The module is intended for next-generation kiosks and POS terminals, where advanced graphics processing is a necessity.
The VB7009 board can be ordered with a mix of processors to optimize the module for the processing needs and the power consumption of a particular application. It can support HD video processing at resolutions up to to 1080p. Choices for the main CPU include the 1-GHz VIA C7, 1.6-GHz VIA C7-D, or the 1.2-GHz dual-core VIA Nano X2. The VX900 media subsystem includes the Chromotion 2.0 video processor.
The module supports up to 4 Gbytes of DDR3 memory. Rear-panel I/I includes a single VGA port, four USB 2.0 ports, one COM port, two Gigabit Ethernet ports, a PS/2 keyboard/mouse port, and three audio jacks. Additional pin headers support four additional USB 2.0 ports, three COM headers, an LPC connector, SMbus connector, LVDS, audio jacks, and PS/2. The board is fully compatible with Microsoft and Linux environments.
