Z-Comm Debuts Ultra-Small VCO for Mobile Radios
By Loring Wirbel | February 3, 2012
Z-Communications Inc. (Z-Comm) has introduced a new voltage-controlled oscillator, USSP2350-LF, for mobile radio applications, covering the 2.3 to 2.4 GHz frequency band in 0.5 to 3.5 V of tuning voltage. The VCO is ideal for tight space constraints in handheld platforms, since its surface-mount package measures 0.2” x 0.2” x 0.04”. It operates from a 2.7V source and typically consumes 6 mA.
The USSP2350-LF can enhance phase-locked loop designs by offering 1:1:1 linearity over frequency range and temperature. The VCO has a spectral purity of -82dBc/Hz at 10 kHz from the carrier. The VCO delivers 0 plus or minus 4 dBm of output power into a 50-ohm load, and suppresses the second harmonic to better than -13 dBc. The USSP2350-LF is available in tape-and-reel for high-volume production.
